urban exploration

What is Urban Exploration?

Urban exploration (or Urbex) is the exploration of abandoned buildings (factories, mines, hospitals, monasteries and so on). By opening doors, crossing fences, or sneaking into holes one can leave the normal world
and explore things that stay unseen otherwise.

Urbex photography is a very interesting subculture of photography.
I personally like the excitement of entering places that’s been empty for a while, somethimes even several years. Places “where time has stopped” and decay has set in. Broken glass, rust, moss growing on concrete, broken tiles on the ground, dry rot of wood are examples of grateful subjects for photos.

With my pictures I try t capture the special atmosphere of the location. My photos tell the story of what happened there when the building was still in use.
